It is a surgical technique based on geometry:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list is-style-step-list\">\n<li><strong>The V-neck<\/strong> The surgeon makes a V-shaped incision in the skin. The tissue within this \u201eV\u201c forms a triangular skin flap.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The postponement<\/strong> This V-shaped flap is carefully detached from the underlying tissue so that it becomes mobile. The entire flap is then pushed forwards towards the tip of the V.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Y-clamp<\/strong> As the flap moves forwards, a gap is created at its original base. This gap is then sutured directly, forming the vertical line of the \u201eY\u201c. The two legs of the original \u201eV\u201c form the arms of the \u201eY\u201c.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The net result: the fabric at the tip of the original \u201eV\u201c has been shifted forwards, resulting in an increase in length or volume at that point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"die-hauptanwendungsgebiete-der-v-y-plastik\">The main areas of application for V-Y plasty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-grid wp-container-core-group-is-layout-bb0cbca6 wp-block-group-is-layout-grid\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-boxed has-white-warm-background-color has-background is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Aesthetic procedure: the lip lift for lip augmentation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The V-Y plasty is frequently used to emphasise the red part of the lips from the inside by extending the mucous membrane (known as a \u201elip lift\u201c). <strong>How it works:<\/strong> The surgeon makes one or more V-shaped incisions on the inside of the lip (on the moist mucous membrane). The V-Y flap procedure involves moving the inside of the lip outwards and forwards. <strong>Result:<\/strong> More of the natural lip colour becomes visible, and the lips appear fuller and more sensual without the use of foreign materials (such as fillers). The scars are inside the mouth and are therefore invisible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-boxed has-white-warm-background-color has-background is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reconstructive application: Scar correction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In cases of tight, constricting scars (scar contractures), which often develop following burns or injuries, VY plasty can work wonders. <strong>How it works:<\/strong> The scar, which is causing the tissue to contract, is cut away. A V-shaped flap is then created from healthy neighbouring tissue and inserted into the area where the scar was removed. <strong>Result:<\/strong> This technique introduces healthy, supple tissue into the defect and lengthens the shortened area.
